LELO MONA Spectra Review: Red Light Therapy for Your Vagina

I’ve been absolutely loving LELO’s latest innovation, MONA™ Spectra, because I feel it represents something much bigger than a new vibrator. What excites me is LELO’s decision to focus on the wellness side of sexual wellness, not just pleasure, and to make that wellness genuinely enjoyable.

As many of you know, I’m passionate about health, longevity and wellbeing. I consume a lot of content around healthy ageing and preventative wellness because I genuinely believe that investing in your body is one of the best investments you’ll ever make. If you consistently take care of your body, your body is much more likely to take care of you. And beyond the long-term health benefits, it simply feels good to look after yourself. What might initially feel like another healthy habit eventually becomes second nature once you begin to experience the benefits.

I’m also very motivated to learn more and experience more of the non sexual benefits of leading an orgasmic and pleasurable lifestyle. After all, sexual satisfaction affects many aspects of our physical and emotional wellbeing.

That’s exactly how I feel about MONA™ Spectra.

We already know that orgasms offer countless well-being benefits, yet female pleasure is still surrounded by stigma. Although attitudes have changed enormously over the past few decades, many women still don’t prioritise their own pleasure. Many don’t talk about the challenges they experience, they don’t ask questions, they don’t seek solutions, or they simply accept discomfort as something they have to live with. I also think many people still approach sexuality through the lens of performance, rather than presence, pleasure and wellbeing.

That’s why I find this product so exciting.

Rather than simply saying, “Here’s a vibrator,” LELO is saying, “Here’s an intimate wellness device.”

That completely changes the conversation. The angle of wellbeing reframes how we view pleasure products, especially when the benefits go beyond the instant gratification of a good orgasm. Although some orgasms impact us long after we get our breath back after them.

The Science Behind MONA™ Spectra

Red light therapy has become incredibly popular within the wellness industry. It’s already widely used to support skin health, collagen production, circulation, muscle recovery and healthy ageing. But what about applying that same technology to the vulva and vagina?

That’s exactly what MONA™ Spectra does.

Red LED light is thought to stimulate the mitochondria, the tiny powerhouses inside our cells, to produce more ATP (adenosine triphosphate), often referred to as the body’s cellular energy currency. Every cell relies on ATP to generate the energy needed for repair, collagen production and healthy tissue function. Red light therapy may also increase the production of nitric oxide, helping improve blood flow and circulation.

Applied to intimate tissues, these mechanisms may help support:

  • Improved blood circulation
  • Increased natural lubrication
  • Better hydration
  • Collagen production
  • Improved tissue elasticity
  • Healthier vaginal tissue
  • Pelvic floor health
  • Greater comfort during intimacy

Unlike many other intimate wellness treatments, it’s non-invasive, painless and free from many of the side effects associated with other approaches.

Why I Think This Is So Innovative

One thing I’ve realised over the years is that many wellness devices are difficult to use consistently.

Pelvic floor trainers and other intimate health devices can be incredibly beneficial, but they’re not always enjoyable. People buy them with the best intentions, use them a few times, and then they sit forgotten in a drawer gathering dust.

MONA™ Spectra changes that.

The motivation becomes pleasure itself.

You’re not forcing yourself to do another wellness routine.

You’re genuinely looking forward to it. After all, pleasure is one of the best incentives.

To me, that’s genius.

It transforms curiosity into pleasure and pleasure into a sustainable wellness habit.

More specifically, MONA™ Spectra is an ergonomically designed vibrator that’s comfortable to hold and incredibly versatile. It’s designed to stimulate the clitoris, perineum and G-spot, making it suitable for both internal and external use. The slim, oval tip makes insertion effortless, while the gradually bulbous shape is perfectly designed to stimulate the G-spot. The ultra-soft sensorial ribs also add another layer of pleasurable stimulation.

Over the past 2 months, I’ve experimented with using MONA™ Spectra in different ways: as a vibrator on its own, as a red light therapy device without vibration, and by combining both vibration and red light therapy.

I have to admit that using the vibration together with the red light therapy is, without a doubt, my favourite way to enjoy it. Not only is it intensely pleasurable and orgasmic, but I also love knowing that I’m simultaneously benefiting from the potential advantages of red light therapy, alongside the many well-documented health and wellbeing benefits associated with orgasm. It’s the perfect combination of pleasure and proactive self-care.

Who Is It For?

Anyone can enjoy MONA™ Spectra simply because it’s a beautifully designed vibrator, but I think it’s particularly interesting for women who want to take a proactive approach to their intimate health throughout different stages of life.

As we age, and especially during perimenopause, menopause and postmenopause, declining oestrogen levels can lead to:

  • Vaginal dryness
  • Reduced natural lubrication
  • Loss of tissue elasticity
  • Reduced blood flow
  • Changes in sensation
  • Pelvic floor weakness
  • Discomfort during intimacy

MONA™ Spectra combines pleasurable stimulation, which naturally increases blood flow, with LED light therapy that may further support tissue vitality and comfort.

I love the idea of caring for our intimate tissues in the same way we care for our skin, muscles and heart health.

Healthy ageing shouldn’t stop at the neck.

Our vulvas and vaginas deserve attention, too.

Even if you’re years away from menopause, this product encourages a preventative approach to intimate wellness rather than waiting until problems appear.

My Experience

I’ve been using MONA™ Spectra since May, several times a week.

Interestingly, I didn’t read much about the product before I started using it because I wanted to experience it intuitively, without any preconceived ideas. I experimented with vibration alone, LED therapy alone and both together.

Without question, my favourite combination is red light therapy with vibration.

I get the pleasure aspect while also feeling like I’m doing something positive for my long-term intimate wellbeing.

One personal change I noticed after several weeks was an increase in my natural lubrication. That’s simply my own experience, and everyone’s body is different, but it was definitely noticeable. Although I always recommend using a good water-based lubricant with intimate products, I personally found I needed less than usual.

The Design

The shape is fantastic.

In fact, it’s probably one of my favourite insertable shapes I’ve tested.

The narrow tip makes insertion effortless before gradually widening into a beautifully curved bulb that sits comfortably without requiring deep penetration. The ultra-soft sensorial ribs create extra stimulation while remaining incredibly comfortable.

It’s also wonderfully versatile externally.

You can use the tip directly against the clitoris for focused stimulation, but my favourite way to use it is actually resting it comfortably against the vulva and perineum. It provides broad stimulation across the vulva, the clitoral network and surrounding erectile tissue without penetration, and I absolutely love using it this way.

I also love the warm glow from the LED light. It creates such a relaxing atmosphere that each session feels like a little wellness ritual for my vulva rather than simply using a vibrator.

Usability

Charging takes up to 2 hours, and a full charge provides up to 2 hours of use. By default, the device automatically switches off after 20 minutes, although you can extend this to 30 minutes through the app.

You can use the vibrator as often as you like but the red light therapy is suggested for around 10-15 minutes 3 times a week.

Overall, it’s fairly intuitive to use manually, but to get the most out of it, I recommend reading the instructions thoroughly. While you can enjoy it manually as both a vibrator and a red light therapy device, most of its advanced features are unlocked through the app. These include additional LED colours such as blue and green, near-infrared light therapy, and a wide range of customisation options and interactive controls.

Orgasm-O-bility

It’s so good. In order to review it properly, I have used it repeatedly since May, (2 months ago) and it was easy fro it to become my go-to, thanks to the incredible shape, the deep rumbly motors and the fact that the red light therapy has really enhanced my own natural lubrication. I absolutely love using it externally as a clitoral/perineum stimulator. It’s also a great way to start a pleasure session, by using externally, then when you build up the arousal, you can insert it.

Pros

Red light therapy with orgasms. Original concept. Ergonomic shape. Rumbly motors, Waterproof. Customisable features. Ideal for internal and external stimulation. Wellness features and benefits.

Cons

Many of the features are only accessible through the app, if you prefer to ‘press and go’ you will miss out on the best features. It’s quite expensive. Fortunately, you can use the code 20VENUS for a 20% discount, and it’s stackable with other offers on the LELO website.

Final Thoughts

For me, MONA™ Spectra isn’t just another vibrator.

Final Thoughts

For me, MONA™ Spectra isn’t just another vibrator.

It’s an intimate wellness device that beautifully combines pleasure, body awareness and self-care.

For years, I’ve been saying that pleasure is self-care, and this product takes that philosophy one step further by integrating pleasure with cutting-edge wellness technology.

I think this is the future of sexual wellness.

Less shame.

Less performance.

More presence.

More body awareness.

More curiosity.

More self-care.

And ultimately, recognising that looking after our intimate wellbeing is every bit as important as looking after every other aspect of our health.
